  1. Dear Carolyn and family,

We are too far away to be with you physically, but we are thinking of you. We give glory to God for his faithfulness even as we mourn Don’s passing. I’m sure he isn’t mourning right now, but rejoicing in his Savior.

    Love and prayers,

  2. We are sad to hear of Don’s homegoing. Our sadness is for you and the family. For Don we rejoice that he no longer suffers and is with his Savior. We regret that we will be unable to attend the service becausr we are in Florida. Gog bless you. With our love, Phil and Dorcas

  3. Caroline and Family,

I was a student at FWBC/SCC when Dr. Gerig served as president and lived as godly example and friend. Dr. Gerig always greeted me warmly…by name…whenever I passed him throughout the day.

This may seem like a small, inconsequential thing but it was not inconsequential to me during those, shall we say, tumultuous days. He could have justifiably viewed students such as me as thorns in his side but, at least when we met face-to-face, he showed himself my Brother in Christ. Without such kind gestures, the path surely would have seemed much more arduous to me and I am grateful, even these 20+ years later, as I reflect upon his “handling” of me.

I was very moved this morning when I read of Dr. Gerig’s going home. And while my first impulse is sadness, I shall choose with you and the family to rejoice over his life and this final victory, wrought for us by Christ.

By the grace of God, living and serving for Jesus because of Dr. Don and the excellent faculty and staff he guided at FWBC/SCC,
